Gone are the days where the people of Savusavu will have to travel all the way to Labasa to access ITaukei Land Trust Board services as a new TLTB Office opened in Savusavu yesterday.
While opening the new office Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said that the Savusavu Sub‑Regional Office will make life much easier for landowners as they now have the best of opportunities to utilize their land given the full services and support provided by the three senior staff that will be manning this new office.
Bainimarama says the opening of the new Savusavu TLTB Office is in line with the Government’s vision to create accessibility to iTaukei Land and also provide as much opportunities as possible not only for tenants of various types but also for landowners to lease their own land.
He says the TLTB Board of Trustees has taken the decision to set up a TLTB Office in Savusavu in recognition of the great opportunities that are available in the province of Cakaudrove covering a total itaukei land area of around 200,000 hectares and with only about 18 percent being leased out.
He says there are 15 districts within the province of Vanua Levu and the area of operation of this new office starts from the district of Wailevu ,Nasavusavu , Natewa Bay , Navatu, Koroalau, Wairiki, Vaturova, Saqani and Tawake.
Bainimarama adds it is also part of the TLTB Board’s vision to see that its services that are normally provided only in the main rural areas are decentralized into other town centers as part of Government plans to provide accessibility and improvement of its effective services to all Fijians that need it.
